History, culture and heritage

The itinerary starts at Morestel which, since the 19th century, has attracted many painters who were fascinated by the special light and the atmosphere that reigns here. You’ll then visit the writers’ village of Brangues, the final resting place of Paul Claudel which was also a source of inspiration for Stendhal’s “The Red and the Black”. The return trip is via Aoste, a village located on the old Roman road that ran between Vienne and Italy and where excavations have uncovered an impressive array of Gallo-Roman objects.
